Al-Ahli have reportedly intensified their efforts to acquire the services of Napoli midfielder Piotr Zieliński this summer.
The Jeddah giants have had an outstanding transfer window after recruiting Edouard Mendy, Allan Saint-Maximin, Franck Kessié, and Riyad Mahrez.
Former Juventus defender Merih Demiral is also said to be on his way to Saudi Arabia and could be unveiled as their latest recruit after their encounter against Al-Khaleej.
Despite spending over £100 million so far, Al-Ahli seem to be keen on making more signings and have identified Napoli’s Piotr Zieliński as their next transfer target.

Napoli had previously rejected a £32 million from Al-Ahli according to Gianluca di Marzio but the latter have not given up on signing the Poland international.
A new report by Arriyadiyah has confirmed that Al-Ahli have sent a new improved offer to Napoli and are now waiting for a response from the Italian champions.
The report also added that personal terms were previously agreed with the player and it’s now up to the club’s management to make a decision on Al-Ahli’s latest proposal.
It’s worth noting that Zieliński’s current deal with Napoli runs until the summer of 2024 and with less than a year left on his contract, they could be losing the 29-year-old on a free transfer next year.
Zieliński has played an integral role in Napoli’s Serie A winning side, scoring three goals and assisting nine times in 37 league appearances last season.
The importance of signing Zieliński
Head coach Matthias Jaissle likes to play a 4-2-3-1 system with two central midfielders operating ahead of the backline. With Franck Kessie’s recent arrival, the Ivorian needs a versatile partner in the middle of the pitch.
While Zieliński may not possess Kessie’s physical presence, the Pole has an outstanding work rate with the creativity required to create chances going forward.
