Al-Ahli have reportedly made a shock €12 million offer for Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara, with the Spanish midfielder uncertain over his future due to the midfield additions that the Anfield side have made.
According to Loic Tanzi of L’Equipe, the Saudi side have made the audacious offer for the Spanish midfielder but whether he would make the move remains to be seen.
Were the midfielder to make the move to the Middle East he’d be joined by former midfield partners Jordan Henderson and Fabinho who both have completed moves to Saudi Arabia, as has Roberto Firmino, who made the move to the Middle East following the expiry of his contract.
According to RMC, the offer for the former Barcelona midfielder, who earns £200,000 a week at Liverpool according to Spotrac, was made just hours ago and this could signal the end of their pursuit of another top European midfielder.
Verratti deal ‘off’
According to the report from the French outlet, the move for the former Bayern Munich midfielder may well spell the end of Al-Ahli’s pursuit of Marco Verratti.
The Italian midfielder has been linked with a move to not only Al-Ahli but Al-Hilal, too. As reported by RMC Sport, the Italian international has been informed by PSG that he is surplus to requirements, and he had been the subject of an offer from Al-Hilal.
However, since the reported meeting between Verratti and Luis Campos, Europe’s top clubs are reported to be interested in making a move for the Italian midfielder since the news of his availability.
For Thiago, the midfielder would be a brilliant signing for the Saudi side. Having already signed Franck Kessie from Barcelona, the Spanish midfielder would be the technical midfielder that their midfield would require. His ability in the deepest midfield role would make him an astute addition.
Despite the report from the French outlet, Fabrizio Romano has denied that the Saudi side are in contact with the player as he has no interest in moving to the Middle East.
