Al-Ahli manager Matthias Jaissle believes his side should have had more points after their draw with Al-Ettifaq on Saturday.
The Jeddah giants have had an inconsistent run of form during September that started with a shocking 5-1 defeat to Al-Fateh.
Despite a 3-2 win over title contenders Al-Taawoun after the international break, Al-Ahli were beaten 4-3 by Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr last week.
They dropped points again on Saturday evening as they played out a goalless draw against Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League’s eighth round.
Roberto Firmino had a goal ruled out for offside during the build-up as Allan Saint-Maximin was just a step ahead of Al-Ettifaq’s Marcel Tisserand.
Head coach Matthias Jaissle expressed his frustration after the game and felt that his side needed to be more efficient up front.
“I think the only positive is that we are improving defensively but there is a lot of work to do from an attacking point of view,” the German coach said in the press conference.
“I do not want to go too much into tactics but our fullbacks as well as Gabri Veiga and Franck Kessie did their job and had a good game.
“I think the stats show that we had a good defensive performance but we were a bit unlucky today. If [Roberto] Firmino’s goal stood, it would have changed a lot.
“Al-Ettifaq are a tough team to play against and they have a really good coach,” he added.
Al-Ahli will hope to turn things around next week when they face Karim Benzema’s Al-Ittihad on Friday, October 8th.
