Al-Ahli have officially announced the signing of Riyad Mahrez from Manchester City.
The fee for the winger is believed to be in the region of £30 million plus around £3 million in add-ons as the Algerian leaves England after spending 9 years there.
The Algerian has been at Manchester City since 2018 when he joined the club for £60 million according to Sky Sports. The winger, previously at Leicester City, was instrumental as the Foxes, against all the odds, won the Premier League under Claudio Ranieri.
After making the move to Manchester, Mahrez has won multiple Premier League titles, as well as multiple Carabao Cups.
He has finally added the elusive UEFA Champions League to his CV and it seems no better time to embark on a new chapter at Al-Ahli.
So what will he offer the Middle Eastern side?
A bonafide Premier League great
Mahrez will go down as being one of the best players to watch in the Premier League. Of course, there’s Eden Hazard, there’s Mohamed Salah or Kevin De Bruyne, but Mahrez is a special talent.
His trickery and his ability to perform when it matters stand him apart. As well as being pleasing on the eye, Mahrez is a very consistent wide man.
With 15 goals and assists for City this season, he has once again proven his worth to Pep Guardiola’s side, but also proving his consistency still exists.
Since that famous title-winning season for Leicester in 2016, Mahrez has not gone through a season where he has failed to provide more than 10 goals or assists in the Premier League.
For the Saudi Pro League, not only will Mahrez,32, be a big-name attraction for the division but he is still young enough to be a top player in the league and potentially fire Al-Ahli, under new management, into the title race.
The Premier League great is sure to tear up the Saudi Pro League, alongside Roberto Firmino and Allan Saint-Maximin, both players who have shone in their own way in the Premier League.
These three are sure to create an exciting and dynamic attack capable of scaring any opposition defence.
