Al-Ahli are ready to make a shock move for highly-rated Mexican winger Hirving Lozano as his future with the Italian side looks up in the air.

According to a report from GOAL Italia, the Saudi side are ready to make an offer for the winger and are hoping to convince the Mexican of the move.

The fee to take the winger to the Saudi side is rumoured to be around €30 million euros, which is around £25 million.

The winger would face competition on the right-hand side from Riyad Mahrez, who joined the club this season from Manchester City, so Lozano would have to push Mahrez out of the team to make that right-wing spot his own.

The Mexican national team icon managed three goals and three assists in 2022/23 as Napoli lifted the Scudetto for the first time since 1990.

The 28-year-old, however, continues to be linked with a move away from the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Why does Lozano want to leave

Lozano’s apparent desire to leave Napoli comes after he chose not to extend his contract on a reduced wage, and club president Aurelio De Laurentiis is actively looking to get the former PSV Eindhoven player off the books.

The Mexican winger made the move to the Italian side back in 2019 from PSV Eindhoven, with his best season coming in the 2020-2021 season when he scored 11 goals and provided three assists for the Italian side.

He made 32 appearances but started just 20 games, so it seems that the Mexican is not seen as the starting winger.

The replacement has already been identified and the Italian side would put the majority of the £25 million they receive to Eintracht Frankfurt winger Jesper Lindstrom.

Al-Ahli would be adding some serious quality depth were he to make the move and at a decent price, too.
